West Ham 0 Man City 3 (agg 0-9): Negredo

Having got his sums wrong in Munich, Manuel Pellegrini took no chances. Six up from the first leg, he selected his best strike force and Manchester City went for more goals.
By the time Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo were finished, they had a comfortable margin for error to satisfy their manager and his mental arithmetic.

Away goals and head-to-head complications would not come into it and West Ham departed the Capital One Cup on the wrong end of a humiliation which extracted all joy from a cup run to the last four.
After the first leg, Tuesday night should have been about tiny sparks of encouragement for Sam Allardyce but in truth there were few. Andy Carroll misfired again and his defence were unzipped with stunning ease and regularity in front of a half-empty Upton Park
